Scholarship Application

Applicants for scholarships must be of Welsh descent or a legally adopted descendant of a person of Welsh descent, a citizen of the United States, and meet all the following requirements.

  • Have and maintain an unadjusted accumulated grade point average of not less than 3.30 on a 4.00 scale or the equivalent.
  • Declare enrollment as a full-time student in an undergraduate program with a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester, leading to a degree in an institution of higher learning qualified to award such a degree.
  • Authorize the registrar of the school to send an OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT of the applicant’s academic record to the Scholarship Committee prior to each school year AFTER completing the spring term.  Transcripts coming directly from a student will not be accepted.
  • Lineage information must follow the guidelines of the following form.
  • Welsh descent must be apparent within the past 5 generations (to your great, great, grandparents).
  • Grants will be paid directly to the applicant in one installment in mid-August, at the beginning of the school year.

 

**Applications and transcripts received after July 15, or incomplete, will not be considered.

 

**Those who have received a scholarship in the past year will be grandfathered in using the guidelines they originally applied under.

The size and number of grants will be determined by the Scholarship Committee and the Trustees of the Women’s Welsh Clubs of America.
